The Tamiya Clod Buster (2026) brings back one of Tamiya's most recognizable monster trucks with its massive tires, high-riding pickup body, twin-motor 4WD drivetrain, and four-wheel steering system. This updated 2026 edition retains the classic Clod Buster chassis layout while featuring a red molded body, revised front grille, updated graphics, and provisions for optional LED headlights.
The Clod Buster uses separate sealed front and rear axle gearboxes, with each axle powered by its own included Type 540 brushed motor. Power is transferred through gear-driven differentials to all four wheels, giving the truck the torque and traction expected from its classic monster truck design.
A Tamiya TEU-201BK twin-motor electronic speed controller is included to operate the dual brushed motor system.
Despite its large 480mm overall length and 380mm width, the Clod Buster is designed for impressive maneuverability. Its four-wheel steering system turns the front and rear wheels in opposite directions, significantly tightening the truck's turning radius.
The 2026 configuration accomplishes four-wheel steering using a single steering servo.
The ABS bathtub chassis uses rigid axles supported by a front leading-arm and rear trailing-arm suspension arrangement. Each wheel receives two coil-spring friction dampers for a total of eight dampers.
Combined with 55mm of ground clearance, the suspension provides the high-riding stance and obstacle clearance that have become signature characteristics of the Clod Buster platform.
Deep-dish one-piece wheels are fitted with huge semi-pneumatic chevron-pattern tires measuring 165mm in diameter and 110mm wide. Their large size provides the distinctive Clod Buster appearance while helping the truck tackle uneven terrain.
The durable styrene pickup body comes molded in red and features updated details for the 2026 release. Metal-plated components are used for the front and rear bumpers, front grille, and supercharger intake.
A roll bar with five auxiliary light housings adds to the classic monster truck appearance, while the revised front components allow separately available LEDs to be installed in the headlights. An updated sticker sheet completes the new 2026 presentation.
