The Bismarck was one of the largest German warships of World War II and entered service in 1940. During Operation Rheinübung in May 1941, Bismarck and the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen entered the North Atlantic, where Bismarck engaged British naval forces and sank the battlecruiser HMS Hood.
Following an extensive pursuit by the Royal Navy, Bismarck was disabled and ultimately sank in the Atlantic on May 27, 1941.
The model features a waterline-style hull that makes it especially suitable for display or use as part of a naval diorama. Molded deck structures, gun turrets, cranes, and superstructure details help reproduce the characteristic appearance of the original battleship.
Revell provides a historically inspired painting plan to help builders reproduce the appearance of the Bismarck. The included basic paints provide the essential colors needed to begin finishing the model.
